5 Ways to Tackle Air Travel Woes

The Business Standard reports that holiday travel in the US has caused thousands of flights to be canceled or delayed.

On Saturday night, nearly 650 flights had already been canceled, and more than 5,200 flights within, into, or out of the country had been delayed. As restrictions have eased and people are eager to travel again, air travel has risen dramatically after a period of low demand over the last two years.

However, airlines and airports are struggling to keep up with the surge in demand, resulting in flight cancellations, delays, and a shortage of trained personnel.

This is particularly problematic in Europe and America, where chaos was predicted but not fully prepared for.

The pandemic led to downsizing in the industry, and now the sudden increase in travel has made it difficult for airlines and airports to cope.

If you’re gearing up for air travel, these tips will help you make the journey easier. Dawn Gilbertson, a travel columnist for the WSJ, has put together some practical advice to help you overcome any travel hiccups: Be prepared for unforeseen circumstances, such as cancellations or delays.

1. Check your flight status ahead of time to save time and reduce stress.

2. Act fast if you receive news of a delay or cancellation.

3. Don’t just sit around waiting – check online for other options and download the airline app to stay informed.

4. Technology is your friend. Take advantage of newcomer “Reserve your Spot” to bypass long security lines for free.

5. Simply book in advance online.

If all else fails, hop on the social media triumvirate Twitter to make your grievances heard. It’s highly effective. If your flight is canceled, consider rebooking instead of accepting a refund. You never know what the fare price maybe with another airline, and it could be twice or thrice the cost!
